Todays Devotional
The Chosen – A Review
May 1, 2021
I cannot remember exactly how I came across The Chosen but what I can definitely remember is the moment it captured my full attention and has never let go.
It happened in the first episode in the last scene. It got me…it got me good. What is it about this series is unlike any other production about Jesus that exists?

The Chosen – A Review

All of these ingredients come together, beautifully enriching the understanding of the Living Word of God.
Primarily, the tremendous effort that has been put into character development and the acting that supports it. And all of this framed in some well thought out cinematography. Worthy of mention is the rigorous adherence to the cultural context and historical detail. Also, how could I forget the powerful score tying all the scenes together and giving important moments an unforgettable imprint on the memory. All of these ingredients come together, beautifully enriching the understanding of the Living Word of God.
As the series tells the wonderfully interweaving stories of those called to follow Him, one can’t help but notice one interesting thing. While Bible verses are threaded into the script the characters speak as persons most people can connect with. They have real hopes, dreams, fears and everyday challenges. And these very human elements are expressed in almost every detail of what is presented on screen.
Interestingly, even if a viewer is not a believer, I find the relevance of the human experience to be so refreshing and enriching. Anyone could binge on what will be an unforgettable series of episodes telling the story of the greatest desire of all the ages. The 33 years that radically changed the course of not just the history of the planet. But of the universe.
